- The Triune God
We believe God has always been and will always be. We believe God is holy, which means He is completely without sin. We believe there is only one God. He is revealed to us in three Persons -- God the Father; God the Son (Jesus Christ); and God the Holy Spirit. We call this the Godhead, or the Trinity.
- Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is God. We believe He was born as a human being and that his mother was the Virgin Mary. Jesus Christ is the God-man, meaning that Jesus Christ is both fully God and fully man. We believe Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose from the dead. He returned to heaven where He now helps us live as Christians.
- The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is God. The Holy Spirit is everywhere in the world and works especially in and through the Christians and the church. The Holy Spirit shows people they are sinners and leads them to become Christians. The Holy Spirit helps the Christian live to please God, and cleanses believers from inbred sin.
- The Holy Scriptures
We believe God inspired the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments. By inspired, we mean that God guided the minds and hearts of the men who wrote the Bible. The Bible tells us God's will about everything we need to know to be saved from sin.
- Sin, Original and Personal
We believe God created Adam and Eve without sin. When they chose to disobey God, sin came into the world and now every person is born with a sinful nature. This is what is referred to as "original sin". Original sin causes us to turn away from God and do what we know is wrong. We believe God can cleanse our sinful nature. This we call "entire sanctification". We define personal sin as knowing what God wants us to do but deciding not to do it.
- Atonement
We believe Jesus Christ suffered and died on the Cross making it possible for us to have our sins forgiven. Jesus' atoning death is the only way a person can be saved from sin. Christ died for everyone, but only those who repent and believe will be saved.
- Free Agency
We believe God gave man the ability to choose. We can make right choices or we can make wrong choices and we are responsible to God for the way we live. We believe that a Christian can choose to go back to living a sinful life. If he does, and does not repent, he will be lost eternally. We believe that man cannot be righteous by himself but God will help anyone and everyone who wants to turn away from sin. God cleanses man of our sinful nature and helps us live a Christian life.
- Repentance
We believe that every person who wants to be saved from his sins must repent. Repentance includes four things:
- Being sorry for our sins.
- Asking God to forgive our sins.
- Promising to stop willful sinning.
- Choosing to live a Christian life.
- Justification, Regeneration, and Adoption
We believe the words justification, regeneration, and adoption are descriptive of the salvation experience. Justification occurs when we repent and accept Jesus because God no longer considers us guilty of our past sins. Regeneration occurs as we are born again, made into a new person. An immediate adoption takes place as we become a child of God. Justification, regeneration and adoption happen simultaneously when a person repents and receives Jesus Christ as his or her Savior.
- Entire Sanctification
We believe that when Jesus died on the cross to make atonement for our sins, He also made it possible for us to get rid of our sinful nature. When a Christian is entirely sanctified, he gives all of his life to God, willingly following God's plan for his life. Entire sanctification cleanses the Christian from teh sinful nature and causes him to love God completely.
- The Church
We believe the mission of the church is to tell people about Jesus Christ, help them become disciples, live a holy life and serve others. The church is comprised of both the local congregation and the Body of Christ, and are people set apart to live by the teachings of Jesus Christ.
- Baptism
We believe that baptism is a sacrament. It is a symbol that the Christian has repented, believes in Jesus and will obey God.
- The Lord's Supper
We believe that the Lord's Supper helps us remember the atonement Christ made for our sins and His promise to come again. We believe that only Christians are to participate in the Lord's Supper.
- Divine Healing
We believe that in answer to a prayer of faith, God sometimes chooses to cure illness and restore health when doctors cannot. Christians should not refuse to take medicine and seek help from doctors when necessary, as God may choose to use medicine as a means of healing.
- Second Coming of Christ
We believe that Jesus will come again, at which time both those Christians who have died and those who are living when Jesus comes will go to live with Him forever.
- Resurrection, Judgment, and Destiny
We believe that after we die, our bodies will be resurrected and reunited with our spirit, and every person will appear before God. God alone judges us according to the way we lived on earth; those who accepted Christ as Savior and obeyed Him will live forever. Those who did not repent will spend eternity in hell.
